On May 15th, a fire occurred in the center of Istanbul at the popular tourist destination, the historic Egyptian Bazaar, also known as the Spice Market. Firefighters arrived at the scene.

"The fire started at the historic Egyptian market in the Eminönü district; our colleagues began extinguishing it," said a statement from the Istanbul Fire Department.

At the moment, it is known that the fire started in the morning on the roof of the market. Fifteen units of special firefighting equipment were deployed to combat the blaze.

Fortunately, rescuers were able to promptly extinguish the fire. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.

"The firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no casualties," said Fatih District Mayor Mehmet Turan in an interview with CNN Türk.

The Egyptian Bazaar is located near the New Mosque and the Galata Bridge. It is the second-largest market in Istanbul after the Grand Bazaar. The Spice Market was built in the 17th century. Over the past year, some of the market's trading rows have undergone reconstruction.
