On the Famagusta-Iskele highway, two individuals died as a result of a collision between a tow truck and a jeep. The truck driver did not yield the right of way to the off-road vehicle.

According to the police press service, the accident occurred last Friday evening, around 17:00, in front of the "Kel'in Yeri" restaurant on the main road from Famagusta to Iskele. The 34-year-old tow truck driver, while towing a vehicle onto the main road, failed to yield to the cars that had the right of way. Consequently, the jeep, driven by a 24-year-old young man, collided with the truck, which did not reduce speed when approaching the intersection.

As a result of the accident, two young women, passengers in the jeep, lost their lives: 20-year-old Tugce Direm Chelik and 23-year-old Fikret Turshu. Both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The jeep driver escaped with minor injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Famagusta State Hospital.

As part of the investigation, the truck driver named Ibrahim Kubachik has been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
