Carob Tree and Folk Dance Festival to Take Place in Tatlısu
This week, Tatlısu will host the 17th International Carob Tree and Folk Dance Festival. The traditional event kicks off on Friday, September 6, and will run for three days.
Organized by the Tatlısu Municipality, the festival aims to highlight the carob tree and promote the use of carob-based products.
Ahead of the festival, a press conference was held at the Tatlısu Municipality, where Mayor Hayri Orçan shared details about the upcoming event.
The mayor stated that the festival’s main goal is to raise awareness about the carob tree and its products, and to encourage their use. Additionally, the festival aims to support the economic, social, and cultural development of the local community.
Noting the versatility of carob products, the mayor also announced plans to establish a carob processing plant in the near future.
The festival will kick off with a parade on the first day, followed by a folk dance show featuring "living sculptures."
Guests can also look forward to cartoon and portrait drawing, makeup sessions by a professional artist, various performances, and a concert by the group "Samida," featuring talented violinists.
On the second day, there will be a range of sports, cultural, and children’s activities. The evening will feature a performance by the group Cypriot Acoustics and Night Travelers.
The final day of the festival will include various stage performances and a closing concert with popular local artists.
