Eight More Victims of the February 6 Earthquake Recognized as "Martyrs of Duty" in TRNC
Eight more individuals who lost their lives in the aftermath of the earthquake on February 6, 2023, have been recognized as "martyrs of duty" in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). This decision was made by the Council of Ministers of the TRNC.
According to the document published in the "Official Gazette," the individuals acknowledged as "martyrs of duty" are Hedef Arnavutoglu, Elif Akbaba, Arda Akbaba, Ilknur Akbaba, Fatma Arkan, Atay Arkan, Bahar Hussam, and Ulash Hussam.
All of them, for various reasons, found themselves in Turkey on February 6, 2023, and became victims of the earthquake.
It is worth noting that more than 50,000 people fell victim to the devastating earthquake on February 6, 2023. Among the casualties were members of the children's volleyball team from Famagusta and their parents, totaling 34 individuals.
Previously, the Council of Ministers of the TRNC made a historic decision, recognizing the entire team as martyrs and naming them "Angels of Champions."
