Two Fatal Accidents in the TRNC on the Same Day: Well-Known Businessman Among the Victims
Two fatal traffic accidents occurred in Northern Cyprus last Sunday, claiming the lives of two people, including a well-known businessman. His two children were also injured.
According to the police press office, the first accident happened around 1:00 PM on Osman Örek Street in the Bellapais area of Girne. 59-year-old businessman Hayati Özok was driving a car without license plates when he lost control, veered onto the sidewalk, and crashed into a stone wall surrounding the home of another businessman, Niyazi Manyera.
Özok died at the scene. His two 15-year-old children, who were in the car with him, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the state hospital in Nicosia. As of Sunday evening, they were still receiving treatment.
The second fatal crash occurred later that day, around 4:00 PM, in the Red Rock area of Kilitkaya. 64-year-old Mehmet Luman was driving on an unmarked dirt road when he lost control on a turn, veered off the road, and crashed into an olive tree in a field.
Luman died at the scene. His passenger, 64-year-old Gülten Luman, was injured and taken to the state hospital in Famagusta for treatment.
