Water Quality Checked at 59 Beaches in Northern Cyprus
A detailed analysis of seawater quality has been published for 59 beaches in Northern Cyprus. Almost everywhere, the indicators meet the standards — it's trendy to swim here. However, some recreational areas have decided to double-check.
Water testing at TRNC beaches is conducted under a cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment and the Ministry of Health on June 27, 2024. In July, all 83 beaches in the country are scheduled to be checked. Samples are collected by staff from the Environmental Protection Agency and analyzed at the State Laboratory.
Results have already been obtained from samples taken at 59 beaches. Almost everywhere, the indicators meet the “Excellent” and “Good” quality classes and do not exceed permissible limits. However, some beaches showed figures above the norm. Therefore, it has been decided to retest samples from Camelot Beach, Oscar Hotel Beach, Les Ambassadors Hotel Beach, Rocks Hotel Beach, and Lords Palace Hotel Beach. These results will be published soon.
Previously, results of water samples from 30 beaches in Kyrenia, Güzelyürt, and Lefka were published.
