TRNC Celebrates Social Resistance Day
Today, Northern Cyprus celebrates Social Resistance Day. August 1st marks the 48th anniversary of the founding of the Security Forces Command (GKK), the 66th anniversary of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT), and the 453rd anniversary of the conquest of Cyprus.
On the eve of the holiday, TRNC President Ersin Tatar met with the Commander of the Security Forces, Major General Osman Aytaç, and his accompanying delegation in honor of Social Resistance Day on August 1st.
Wishing success to the command, President Tatar noted that the GKK is responsible for public order and the safety of Turkish Cypriots.
“We are in a challenging region, with ongoing conflicts in nearby areas. However, we can protect our coasts and our island from all types of dangers,” emphasized Ersin Tatar.
Major General Osman Aytaç, on behalf of the entire command, including the military, police, coast guard, aviation, and civilian personnel, thanked the president for the reception.
Major General Aytaç stressed that the GKK will continue to protect the Turkish nation with modern equipment and highly skilled personnel, supported by the Turkish Armed Forces.
In honor of the holiday, President Tatar also addressed the public and the world.
“On this blessed day, when we celebrate three anniversaries together, I once again address the world:
“We will never give up our state, our sovereignty, our lands, the Blue Homeland, and Turkish soldiers under the guarantee of Motherland Turkey. We will continue to resolutely follow the new national path we have determined on the Cyprus issue,” emphasized Ersin Tatar.
