An Energy Committee has been established in the TRNC
An Energy Committee has been established in Northern Cyprus. The decision to create this new authority was published in the "Official Gazette." It will be responsible for providing consultations in the field of energy.
According to the document, the duties of the Energy Committee include "expressing opinions and proposals on national energy production, planning, supply security issues, preparing reports on these issues when necessary, as well as presenting opinions and reports on interconnections and making necessary assessments."
Decisions of the Committee will be presented to the Council of Ministers by the Minister of Economy and Energy.
The committee includes relevant ministers, the leadership of the Cyprus-Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK), leaders of relevant trade unions, as well as energy industry experts.
