Budgets for Courts and Audit Office Approved in Northern Cyprus
The Committee on Economy, Finance, Budget, and Planning of the Republican Assembly has approved the budgets for the courts and the Audit Office for 2025.
As outlined in the Central Government Budget Bill for the 2025 fiscal year, the Audit Office’s budget was unanimously approved at 140,133,900 Turkish Lira. The Chairman of the Audit Office, Osman Korahan, attended the session.
During the meeting, concerns were raised about the shortage of auditors at the Audit Office. Currently, the office operates with 36 specialists, and several positions remain vacant.
Responding to lawmakers’ criticism, Osman Korahan explained that expenditure audits began in 2023, but activity reports have yet to be submitted.
Following a detailed discussion, the budget for the Audit Office was unanimously approved.
Similarly, the courts' budget for Northern Cyprus was unanimously approved at 927,978,300 Turkish Lira, reflecting an increase of 29 million Turkish Lira compared to the previous allocation. Bertan Özerdağ, President of the Supreme Court, participated in the discussions.
After the courts' budget was finalized, the committee proceeded to deliberate on the budget for the Legal Department (Attorney General's Office).
Earlier, the parliamentary committee had also approved the presidential budget for 2025.
