In the TRNC, a unique brain operation was performed for the first time
TRNC Minister of Health, Hakan Dinchyurek, announced an important event in the field of neurosurgery. At the hospital of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu in Nicosia, a brain operation was conducted for the first time, aimed at eliminating involuntary movements in patients with Parkinson's disease.
During the operation, which was observed for some time by the head of the Ministry of Health, an electrode was placed in the patient's brain using a computer. Impulses were regulated by a battery, allowing the patient to instantly get rid of involuntary muscle contractions.
The operation, performed on a 62-year-old patient, was successfully completed, and the patient is in good condition.
After the operation, the minister emphasized the importance of restoring the patient's health and noted that similar operations were previously carried out only in some centers in Turkey.
Neurosurgery specialist Professor Tanju Uchar, who accompanied the operation, noted that such operations are increasingly used in the field of neurosurgery. He emphasized that this method of surgical treatment, used in many cases such as various motor disorders, tremors, and mental illnesses, especially in patients with Parkinson's disease, has become very important due to the combination with modern technologies.
The minister thanked all members of the team who contributed to the operation and added that conducting such surgical interventions in the TRNC is a significant event in the field of neurosurgery.
