In Turkey, Expecting Recognition of TRNC at Summit in Azerbaijan
During the ongoing summit of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) in Azerbaijan, there may be an announcement concerning the TRNC's inclusion into the TDT and its recognition by other Turkic states.
This statement was made today by a member of the Security and Foreign Policy Council under the President of Turkey and Chairperson of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Friendship Foundation for Cooperation and Solidarity, Aygun Attar.
In an interview with the Turkish agency Anadolu ahead of the Organization of Turkic States meeting in the Azerbaijani city of Shusha, attended by President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and TRNC leader Ersin Tatar.
“It is crucial for Turkic states to unite, find common ground, and engage in joint initiatives in political and cultural diplomacy. I extend my gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this path, beginning with the Nakhchivan Agreement,” stated Aygun Attar.
The professor further mentioned that at the summit, "we anticipate significant news that the TRNC will achieve full membership in the TDT and gain recognition from other Turkic states."
It is noteworthy that the leader of Northern Cyprus traveled to Azerbaijan to attend the summit the day before.”
