On Sunday, two restaurants in Kyrenia caught fire
In Kyrenia, two fires occurred in restaurants in one day. In both cases, the chimneys were ablaze.
According to the police press service, the first fire broke out yesterday around 16:00 at "Kebapchi Bilal Usta" on Jengizhanly Street. The fire ignited in the café's chimney. Firefighters who arrived at the scene promptly extinguished the fire.
As a result of the fire, the kitchen was damaged, and various kitchen utensils and electrical cables burned. The restaurant walls were covered in soot.
The second fire broke out at 18:30 at Peri's Fish restaurant in Kervansaray. Here, too, the remnants of oil in the chimney caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire.
As a result of the incident, the suspended ceiling, various cables, and the kitchen ventilation system were burned, and the walls were damaged due to heat and smoke.
The investigation into both fires is ongoing.
It is worth noting that a total of nine fires occurred in the country from December 18 to 24. The total damage from the fires amounted to 195,350 Turkish liras. In addition to the fires, rescuers responded to another 40 different incidents during the week.
