Roads in Famagusta to Close for the Angels-Champions Memorial Marathon
This weekend, some roads in Famagusta will be closed to traffic as the Angels-Champions Memorial Marathon takes place in the city.
According to the police press office, in preparation for the marathon races in various categories, part of Ismet Inonu Boulevard in Famagusta between the "Kolik" cafe and MAGEM will be closed to traffic from 10:00 on Saturday until 18:00 on Sunday. Traffic will be redirected along alternative routes.
On the day of the race, Sunday, April 7, starting at 06:30 in the morning, the centre of Famagusta will be completely closed to traffic: within EMU, Lions Garden roundabout, Salamis Road, St. Barnabas Road, and Yeniboğaziçi circle in both directions. Traffic will also be diverted along alternative routes.
The statement notes that part of the main Famagusta-Karpaz road between Yeniboğaziçi roundabout and Etyüken roundabout will be closed to traffic. Passage will be allowed in one lane in both directions.
Drivers are asked to be understanding of the temporary inconvenience, adhere to speed limits, and obey traffic signs and markings.
Additionally, the events as part of the sports festival will begin at 14:00 on Saturday, April 6. Guests can enjoy a concert featuring DJ Montana, retro instrumentalists, Erce, Diamond Cover Band, and the CBC Orchestra.
Popular Turkish and Cypriot artist Haluk Levent will participate in the race and perform a concert afterward.
