Over the weekend, Mother's Day was celebrated in the TRNC
Last weekend, Mother's Day was celebrated in Northern Cyprus. The President of the TRNC participated in an event organized by the National Unity Party.
In his speech, the head of Northern Cyprus stated that Turkish Cypriots attach great importance to women and mothers: during the years of national struggle, when husbands were on the front lines, mothers were the mainstay of the family.
Ersin Tatar emphasized that mothers play a tremendous role in passing down the struggle of the people from generation to generation.
According to the president, efforts have been made in recent years in Northern Cyprus to involve women more in politics.
Highlighting the importance of maternal love and compassion, the President of the TRNC congratulated women on Mother's Day and thanked them for their selflessness.
Mother's Day is an international holiday. On this day, it is customary to congratulate mothers and pregnant women. Different countries celebrate this day on different dates. In Turkey and the TRNC, the holiday is observed on May 12th.
