THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TURKEY GIFTS THREE CARS TO THE TRNC ASSEMBLY
A ceremony was held in Northern Cyprus for the transfer of three cars, as well as printing and computer equipment, gifted to the Assembly of the Republic by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
The ceremony took place at 10:00 in the Parliamentary Garden and was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament, Zorlu Tere, Turkey's Ambassador to Nicosia Metin Feyzioglu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoglu, along with some ministers, deputies, embassy and parliament staff.
Turkey's Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioglu, stated that everyone knows how important it is for the legislative, executive, and judicial powers to be separated for the sake of democracy. He mentioned that currently, the TRNC is ahead of many countries in the world in terms of democracy standards.
The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Zorlu Tere, announced that the Republic's Assembly had various shortcomings, but they couldn't address them due to budget constraints.
He also mentioned that the three cars, computers, and equipment were purchased with the financial support of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office.
The Speaker of the Parliament emphasized that thanks to Turkey's support, the parliament has become stronger.
"I hope we will move to the new parliament building in 2024," concluded Zorlu Tere.
After the speeches, Turkey's Ambassador to Nicosia handed over the keys of the cars and presented the equipment to the Speaker of the TRNC Assembly.
