TRNC authorities denied reports of attempted murder of Jews in Northern Cyprus
TRNC President Ersin Tatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country have denied the statement made by the Prime Minister of Israel that Mossad thwarted an assassination attempt on Jews in Northern Cyprus. The country's authorities assert that such a situation did not occur.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on his social media account that Israeli intelligence supposedly prevented an attempt by Iran to carry out an assassination of Jews in Northern Cyprus. Israel's statement prompted a reaction from the authorities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The head of the state strongly refuted this information.
Ersin Tatar stated that necessary precautions are always taken at the maritime, land, and air borders of the TRNC to prevent the occurrence of such incidents.
"In our country, there was no such case. All our security units carefully monitored the relevant statement from Israel. The TRNC will never allow terrorist acts on its territory," said the head of Northern Cyprus.
The President also emphasized that all relevant units of the TRNC are in close dialogue with Turkey.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country also reacted to the statements of the Israeli Prime Minister.
The ministry stated that it "resolutely rejects this baseless, unsubstantiated, and malicious accusation."
"We would like to inform the world that we will not allow the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a country of peace and security, to be drawn into dark and dirty games, and we will continue to ensure the safety of everyone living in our country," the ministry's statement said.
