7.5 tons of expired spices seized in Famagusta
On October 23, 2025, in Northern Cyprus, the Famagusta Municipal Police Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, conducted an inspection in the Famagusta Organized Industrial Zone and seized 7.5 tons of expired spices.
The inspection revealed that the spices were stored in sacks and were intended for distribution to various retail outlets on the domestic market. The total market value of the different types of substances is estimated at approximately 8 million Turkish liras.
The Famagusta Municipal Police carried out the seizure procedure and formalized the measures for the confiscation of the goods. Administrative and other legal actions have been initiated against the company engaged in wholesale trade.
Harun Oza, head of the Famagusta Municipal Police Unit, emphasized in a statement that protecting public health is a priority for the municipality: “We will not allow activities that endanger public health. We will continue to fight resolutely against violations and lack of control.”
