Footballer Attacks Referee, Breaking His Jaw During a TRNC Match
In Northern Cyprus, a shocking incident occurred during a football match when a player assaulted the referee, fracturing his jaw with a kick.
The incident took place in the 75th minute of a match between the teams Çanakkale and Vadili at Dr. Fazıl Küçük Stadium in Famagusta. Hasan Çağakan Çakı, a 26-year-old player for Çanakkale, struck 34-year-old referee Mustafa Torun in the face with his right foot. Medical assessments confirmed that the referee suffered a fracture in his left cheekbone.
According to a police statement, the injured referee received treatment at Famagusta State Hospital and was subsequently discharged. The offending player was immediately taken into custody.
