“Orange” Alert Level Declared at All Airports in Turkey
An "orange" alert level has been implemented at all airports in Turkey due to the risk of anticipated terrorist attacks. Travelers are strongly advised to arrive at the airports well ahead of their scheduled flights.
In addition, following yesterday’s attack at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), Turkish authorities have significantly ramped up security measures. Eyewitnesses have reported seeing vans filled with special forces at various airports across the country.
Due to these heightened security protocols, all departing passengers are encouraged to arrive at least three to four hours prior to their flights, rather than the usual two hours, as pre-flight checks may take longer than normal.
To summarize, the attack on the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) in the Ankara region occurred the previous evening. Three armed individuals stormed the building, detonating an explosive device, which led to an exchange of gunfire. Tragically, five people lost their lives, and 22 others sustained injuries. The assailants were neutralized during the incident.
Defense Minister Yaşar Güler stated that the attack was orchestrated by militants from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is classified as a terrorist organization in Turkey.
