173 Traffic Violators Caught on the Second Day of Kurban Bayram in TRNC
During inspections conducted on the roads of Northern Cyprus on the second day of Kurban Bayram, police caught 173 traffic violators. Three people were arrested, and 31 vehicles were banned from further operation.
According to the police press service, a total of 1,762 drivers were checked on June 17.
Eighty-six drivers were fined for speeding, 24 were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 12 drivers failed to wear seat belts, and 8 people were driving without a license or insurance. Additionally, 7 drivers were penalized for using mobile phones while driving, and 34 people were caught for other traffic violations.
Furthermore, during inspections conducted by the road services of Kyrenia, approximately 1 gram of narcotics was found on a driver. Further investigation led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and the arrest of four more people.
It is worth noting that on the first day of the holiday, 175 violators were caught on the country’s roads. On the second day, there were four accidents in the TRNC.
