Driver in Nicosia ran a red light and crossed lane markings — fined 15,000 lira and received 35 penalty points
In the Sanayi district, near the Alper traffic light, a driver first violated the lane markings and then ran a red light. The incident was recorded on a dashcam and shared online, prompting Nicosia traffic police to take action.
Following an investigation, police issued a fine of 15,360.60 Turkish lira and assigned 35 penalty points to the driver. This combination — lane violation and running a red light — is considered very serious, hence the strict penalties.
The police emphasized the importance of following traffic rules. Such violations endanger not only the drivers themselves but also pedestrians, cyclists, and all other nearby road users.
