At Ercan Airport, a police special operation was carried out to turn back a plane heading to Istanbul. A man suspected of being involved in an armed attack in Nicosia was on board the aircraft.
According to local media reports, the plane took off from Ercan Airport to Istanbul around 10:00 (according to the online schedule, it was a flight of Turkish Airlines). Just 10 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft turned around and landed at the departure airport.
After landing, the suspect on board the plane was arrested.
