In the TRNC, 5 fires and 20 incidents requiring intervention by rescuers occurred in the past week. The total damage from the fires exceeded 600,000 Turkish liras.
According to the weekly report of the fire service, possible causes of the fires included a short circuit in the electrical circuit, ignition of vegetable oil in a fryer, rupture of a vehicle's fuel hose and fuel leakage, contact with hot components leading to ignition, as well as fires in accident-involved vehicles.
In addition to fires, firefighters were called to rescue cats and dogs stuck in trees, people who fell into wells, and individuals trapped in vehicles after traffic accidents and in elevators.
Rescuers also took precautionary measures against fires, participated in ensuring road traffic safety, and transported the deceased to the hospital for forensic examination.
