95 Accidents Reported in Northern Cyprus This Week: Two Fatalities
Northern Cyprus witnessed 95 traffic accidents over the past week, resulting in two deaths and 32 injuries.
According to the weekly police report, two of the accidents were fatal, 26 caused injuries, and 67 resulted in property damage.
The primary causes of these accidents included speeding (27 incidents), failure to stop at intersections (22 incidents), careless driving (18 incidents), failure to maintain a safe distance (16 incidents), and various other factors (12 incidents).
Accidents were regionally distributed as follows: 36 occurred in Lefkoşa, 24 in Girne, 23 in Gazimağusa, 8 in İskele, and 4 in Güzelyurt.
During traffic inspections over the week, 16,214 drivers were checked, leading to the identification of 3,039 violations. Authorities prohibited 182 vehicles from continuing their journeys, and seven drivers were arrested. Once again, speeding was identified as the most frequent traffic offense.
