Three people died in Northern Cyprus within 24 hours: police are investigating the circumstances
Over the past 24 hours, three deaths were recorded in different areas of Northern Cyprus. In all cases, law enforcement authorities are conducting investigations; in two cases, the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
Lefkoşa: 59-year-old man found dead at home
On February 3, 2026, at around 21:00, Hasan Ayık, 59, was found lifeless in his home in Lefkoşa. A doctor who arrived at the scene found no signs of violence or external interference. The exact cause of death will be determined following an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing.
Girne: 29-year-old man died in hospital
On the same day at around 23:00, a resident of Girne, Handaker Jayed Hassan Fahim (29), visited a private clinic complaining of severe headache and nausea. He was kept under observation, but his condition worsened.
Later, the patient was transported by ambulance to Dr. Akçiçek State Hospital in Girne, where he died at 04:45 despite the efforts of medical staff. The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy. Police have launched an investigation.
Yeniceköy: 88-year-old woman died at home
On February 4, 2026, at around 02:00, Hürysiye Bardak, 88, was found dead in her home in the village of Yeniceköy. During the examination, the doctor found no signs of violence. According to preliminary information from her attending physician, death occurred as a result of congestive heart failure. Investigative actions are continuing.
