Classes Continue in TRNC Schools Despite Teachers’ Strike
On October 25, a strike organized by the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) is underway in several TRNC schools. However, despite the protest, classes in these schools continue as scheduled.
In an interview with Kıbrıs Postası, TRNC Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu shared that although the strike was announced, educational activities have not come to a halt, with teacher participation in the strike varying widely between 20% and 80%.
“Not all teachers are participating in the strike, so classes in schools are ongoing,” the minister said.
It should be noted that the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) had previously announced a strike for schools in the İskele district, with the protest scheduled from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday.
Additionally, according to union leader Selma Eylem, teachers across all schools will refrain from attending classes from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
