Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital
Description
‘Burhan Nalbantoglu State Hospital was built with the technical and financial support of Turkey to strengthen health services in Nicosia after the events of 1963. The hospital, whose foundations were laid in 1971, was inaugurated on 13 February 1978.
Additional buildings and services were added over time:
- **1988:** Opening of the Cancer Centre and Thalassaemia Centre.
- **1996-1998:** Haemodialysis, chest, instant and nuclear medicine services were added.
- **2001:** Diabetes Centre was established.
- **2004:** A new polyclinic building and radiology centre were put into operation.
- **2015:** A full-fledged oncological dispensary was opened (78 beds, chemotherapy and radiation therapy).
Today, the organisation, which is the largest public hospital in the TRNC, employs 152 doctors, 402 nurses and 470 health workers.’
