Mackenzie Beach
The popular Mackenzie Beach, located near Larnaca Airport, is a strip 1 kilometer long and up to 80 meters wide in places, with fine sand in various shades of brown and beige, calm, clear, and shallow sea waters, and an abundance of greenery.
The beach is named after Scott Mackenzie, who was married to a Greek Cypriot and once lived in Larnaca. In the 1940s, he built a small residence for himself at this location, which quickly became popular among the local population.
Due to its location, Mackenzie is ideal for plane spotting. Because of this feature, the beach is quite different from other similar places in Cyprus. While this may not seem like an advantage to some, children (and many adults) are typically thrilled by the sight of planes landing.
