Colossi Castle is a famous structure on the island of Cyprus, located just 10 kilometers away from the popular tourist destination of Limassol. Let's explore what it is and why you should visit.

Colossi Castle is often referred to as a tall square tower, but it is actually just a part of the architectural complex of a medieval fortress, with the main tower known as the "donjon." Unfortunately, the other buildings of Colossi Castle have suffered damages over time, and due to its proximity to the old city port, the castle was often attacked by enemies.

The third floor was used as the personal chambers of the Grand Commander and a hall for the knights. The castle oversaw about 60 villages and numerous plantations. It was here that the knights, under the leadership of the Grand Commander, began producing the legendary Cypriot wine Commandaria.
