Tulip Festival

The Spring Festival in the village of Polemi is dedicated to the blooming of the rare Tulipa agenensis, considered endangered, yet in this region of the island it forms impressive scarlet fields at the end of March; visitors are greeted with traditional loukoumades, and on-site there are gastronomy and wine stands, school performances, dance and music numbers, artisan demonstrations, and children’s activities. Visitors can stroll to the tulip fields and enjoy the vibrant natural carpet of red flowers, keeping in mind that picking tulips is strictly prohibited as they are protected.
