Lecture on the role of profanity
The Book Club invites you to a lecture on the role of Russian profanity (mat) in culture, its historical roots, nuances of usage, and current state. The speaker is Ksenia Demeneva, PhD in Philology, children's book author, and lecturer at HSE Nizhny Novgorod. The program includes an analysis of interesting facts about profanity, analogies with "unforgivable curses" in Harry Potter, and a discussion of its expressiveness in the modern world. The lecture is for adults (18+), lasting about two hours. Light wine refreshments will be provided.
