My Iliad. Theater production

"An ingenious concept - the play My Iliad tells an ancient story that resonates with tragic force in our time." - The New York Times

Technopolis 20 presents the Obie Award-winning theatrical production "My Iliad" by Satirikon Theatre, translated and directed by Andreas Arauz, in Paphos.

In the play, Despina Bembedeli takes on the role of Homer, the first great creator of European and Western literature, personifying the beginning of all poetry. This year, the great rhapsodist finds a universal voice through the masterful performance of one of Cyprus' most outstanding actresses.

The play My Iliad by American playwrights Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare is based on Homer's Iliad in Robert Fagles' English translation. It is a contemporary, gripping interpretation of the ancient epic, highlighting the eternal destructive consequences that war brings to humanity.

On stage, the Poet tells a story of war, thirst for power, arrogance, and human pride - a story that has been repeated for centuries, crushing humanity. Modern reality only confirms the prophetic power of the great Homer.
