The fiction meeting will feature a discussion of Hanya Yanagihara's novel The People in the Trees.

In 1950, a young doctor named Norton Perina joins a scientific expedition to a remote Micronesian island, where he encounters a tribe of people who possess the secret to either unique longevity or eternal life. The results of his research promise a fundamental revolution in medicine and new fabulous horizons for humanity. However, turning a fairy tale into reality according to the traditions of civilized society is a painful and frightening process, sometimes blurring the lines between heroism and crime. (c)
