12 years in prison: Limassol court issues verdict in major drug trafficking case

The Limassol Criminal Court has sentenced one of the defendants in a major cocaine trafficking investigation to 12 years in prison. The case is part of a series of related incidents uncovered by police since 2022.
In May 2022, police in Limassol uncovered two cases involving the storage of large quantities of cocaine. In the first episode, a 58-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were arrested — 2.5 kg of cocaine was found in their possession. Two weeks later, another 6.5 kg of the substance was discovered in a container that arrived at the port, which led to the arrest of another 58-year-old man.
Sentences of 10 years, 3 years, and 13 years in prison have already been handed down in connection with these episodes. A separate case involves a 71-year-old man who was arrested in Germany in September 2024. He is linked to two major cocaine shipments. His case is still under consideration.
The investigation into the entire series of incidents remains open.
