26-Year-Old Woman Arrested at Larnaca Airport with 40 Kilograms of Cannabis
A 26-year-old woman has been arrested by Cyprus Police after attempting to smuggle 40 kilograms of cannabis into the island in her luggage.
According to a statement from the police, the woman arrived at Larnaca Airport on March 30, on a flight from abroad. As part of a joint operation between the police and customs authorities aimed at detecting drug trafficking, her luggage was thoroughly searched.
During the inspection, two vacuum-sealed nylon bags were found in her suitcases, each containing smaller bundles of cannabis.
The woman was arrested and placed in custody. On April 1, she appeared before the Larnaca District Court, which ordered her detention for 8 days.
The Larnaca Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) is leading the investigation.
