An 82-year-old resident of Paphos opened fire with a shotgun due to loud music at a cafe
In Paphos last Saturday, an 82-year-old grandfather was detained on charges of attempted murder. The elderly man opened fire with a shotgun due to excessively loud music at a nearby cafe.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning in the village of Konia. According to Michalis Nicolaou, assistant director of the Paphos police, the pensioner complained about loud music coming from the neighboring cafe. The police visited the party venue and asked the organizers to lower the volume.
After the music continued, the elderly man armed himself with a shotgun and decided to address the issue himself. Upon arriving at the cafe, he fired at a lighting fixture, resulting in minor injuries to four people: a 26-year-old man and women aged 25, 19, and 18.
They were taken to Paphos General Hospital, where they received first aid and were later discharged.
The assailant was remanded in custody for six days for further investigation. He is currently charged with attempted murder, actions aimed at causing bodily harm, carrying a weapon with the intent to cause terror, and illegal use of firearms.
