AKEL MP Aristos Damianou stated that the party will not allow the approval of €3.9 million for the payment of services to the speed-camera company in Cyprus.

He said that today he will send a letter to the competent authorities requesting the contract text, since, according to him, the execution of the agreement is covered by a “veil of non-transparency”.

Damianou noted that the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Road Transport and the Police gave different statements yesterday in Parliament, which indicates problems in the functioning of the authorities. He also said that the Police must stop instructing MPs and follow the law, and the state must not use “mafia-style” methods to collect and transfer money to companies.

According to the MP, until the contract is presented, AKEL will block the approval of the relevant funding.
