Anti-terrorism exercise “Europa” to take place on December 19 at the Nicosia Conference Centre

The Cyprus Police will conduct the anti-terrorism exercise “Europa” at the conference centre in Nicosia on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00.

Units from various services and departments of the Cyprus Police, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Service, as well as the Secretariat of the Cypriot Presidency will take part in the exercise. The event is organized within the framework of cooperation between the police and the Secretariat of the Cypriot Presidency ahead of the start of the Republic of Cyprus’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.

The aim of the exercise is to test the preparedness, response, and coordination of the competent services regarding the security of the conference centre, as well as to ensure familiarization and practical training of the participating services in the facility’s environment.

On the day of the exercise, an increased presence of police forces is expected in the area. Blank rounds will be fired inside the conference centre premises. The public has been informed in advance about the exercise and warned that there is no cause for concern.

Residents are advised to take into account possible operational activity during the specified time and to rely on official communications from law enforcement authorities.
