The Archdiocese of Cyprus has launched a financial support program for large families

The Archdiocese of Cyprus announced the launch of a financial aid program for families with three or more children. Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus announced the initiative at a press conference on November 13. The payments apply from January 1, 2025 and cover the entire territory of Cyprus.
According to the plan, assistance is granted for the third and subsequent children born after January 1, 2025. Upon the child’s baptism, a one-time payment of €1,500 is provided, followed by €1,000 upon enrollment in primary school, gymnasium, and lyceum. In addition, until the age of 18, children will receive €100 for Easter and €100 for Christmas annually in the form of vouchers.
To participate in the program, one of the parents must be of Orthodox faith and hold a Republic of Cyprus identity card. The family must reside permanently in Cyprus, and the parents’ marriage must be a church marriage performed in an Orthodox church. The benefit applies to families with at least three children, including the supported child. Applications are submitted electronically through the official program website.
The Archdiocese estimates the total amount of payments for the period 2025–2039 at approximately €72 million — €28 million for vouchers and more than €44 million for direct payments. Around €2 million is planned for 2025. The program’s fund will be reviewed every 2–3 years and may be increased depending on the project’s success.
The Statistical Service and the Ministry of Labour of Cyprus participated in preparing the program’s mechanism.
