A British Tourist in Cyprus Crashes Into a Tree and Ends Up in Intensive Care
A British tourist was involved in an accident in the Republic of Cyprus. The man crashed his car into a tree and ended up in intensive care. Doctors assess his condition as critical.
According to the police press service, the accident occurred on Thursday evening around 17:00 in Paralimni. According to a representative of the Famagusta district police, a 53-year-old vacationer from the United Kingdom lost control while driving and veered onto a pedestrian path, then crashed into a tree lining the path before coming to a stop.
After the accident, the victim was taken to the general hospital in Famagusta in Paralimni, but was later transferred to the intensive care unit of the general hospital in Nicosia and placed in intensive care.
Doctors diagnosed the tourist with a skull fracture, abdominal and chest injuries, as well as a leg fracture. His condition is assessed as extremely critical.
It is noted that due to the severity of the injuries sustained by the victim, the police were unable to conduct a preliminary alcohol test, but blood samples were taken for this purpose at the general hospital in Famagusta. The police also could not determine whether the man was wearing a seatbelt.
The police investigation into this matter is ongoing.
