British Nationals Top the List of Foreigners Crossing the Border Between Cyprus and the TRNC
In the first seven months of 2024, the number of Greek Cypriots crossing the border into the TRNC decreased, while the number of Turkish Cypriots visiting Cyprus increased. British citizens remain the most frequent foreign visitors.
According to local media reports citing data from the TRNC Ministry of Tourism, there were a total of 4,446,366 border crossings from January to July. Of these, 1,680,266 were by Greek Cypriots, 1,632,488 were by Turkish Cypriots, and the remaining 1,133,582 were by citizens of other countries.
The number of Greek Cypriots arriving in the TRNC decreased by 48,015, while arrivals from other countries fell by 73,779.
Excluding Greek Cypriots, British passport holders ranked first in border crossings from January to July.
British nationals continue to hold the second spot with 149,782 crossings, and when adding the 26,164 British passport holders among Turkish Cypriots, the total number of crossings increases even further.
Greek citizens are in third place, followed by Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, Russia, Israel, Slovakia, and France.
