A second fatal accident in less than 24 hours has occurred in the Paphos district. The tragedy took place on the Kathikas – Peyia road: a 60-year-old driver died after his car veered off the road at a bend and plunged into a ravine about 40 meters deep.

According to preliminary police reports, the man was traveling along a section with a right-hand bend when, under circumstances yet to be determined, he lost control. Firefighters and an ambulance crew arrived at the scene; the victim was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

This marks the second fatal road accident within the last 24 hours, heightening government concerns over road safety.

Earlier the same weekend, a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist occurred in another part of the country. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of both tragedies.
