Four planes involved in fighting forest fire in Paphos district
On September 22, 2025, the fire service began extinguishing a forest fire between the villages of Goudi and Chrysochou in the Paphos district of Cyprus. The fire started at 10:53 and affected approximately four hectares of wild vegetation and dry grass.
The firefighting operation is being conducted by ground teams from the Paphos district with support from the Forest Department and the Paphos district administration. Four planes have been deployed to assist ground forces by performing water drops.
According to emergency services, residential houses and infrastructure were not at risk. Work on containment and extinguishing continues.
Earlier that morning, rescuers also extinguished two more fires in the district. At 10:36 in the Vatutkia area near the settlement of Koili, dry grass caught fire on an area of about half a decare; the fire was brought under control by 11:10 with the participation of two fire trucks and one portable unit. At 11:11 in the Konia area, a pile of cuttings and dry grass caught fire, which was also quickly extinguished.
