Independence Day of Greece in Cyprus: road closure schedule and parking areas
Due to the celebration of Greece's Independence Day in Cyprus today, March 25th, several main roads will be closed. Festive parades and events are taking place in cities across the country.
The police have taken necessary measures to ensure public safety and facilitate traffic flow.
Specifically, due to the church service at Panagia Faneromeni Church and the parade in Nicosia, parking of all vehicles has been prohibited since midnight on Sunday at the underground parking near the "Chaussee" store, on Nikokleous and Lefkonos streets, near Panagia Faneromeni Church, on Konstantin Paleologos, Homer, and Byron Avenues, on Michalakis Karolis Street, and on Evagorou Avenue.
From 9:00 on March 25th, traffic will be stopped on Omirou Avenue from the intersection with Agiptou Street to the intersection with Eleftherias Square, as well as on Byronos Avenue from the Museum lights to the intersection with Griva Digeni Avenue.
Additionally, from 9:30, traffic will be stopped on Byronos and Omirou Avenues, Michalaki Karaoli Street, and Demosfenis Severis Avenue from the traffic light to Grigori Afxentiou Avenue.
Parking areas for vehicles for the March 25th parade:
- Davilla Parking Zone
- Parking area near the municipality building
- Parking area near the fire station.
Nicosia city buses after 09:30 in the morning, coming from the Strovolos - Lakatameia - Antoupolis - Parisinou - Egomi - Agios Dometios - Agios Pavlos areas, will pick up/drop off passengers at the parking lot near the Solomos statue, across from Kinyra and Paphos Street.
Nicosia city buses after 09:30 in the morning, coming from the Pallouriotissa, Kaimakli, Aglantzia, Dasoupolis, Latsia areas, will drop off passengers at the Kanigos Bridge, near the "OXI" pavilion.
The public is urged to follow the instructions of the police on duty.
