Two Planes from Jordan Arrive in Cyprus to Assist with Firefighting Efforts
Two planes from Jordan have arrived in Cyprus to aid in firefighting efforts as the island prepares for the upcoming fire season. In addition, large-scale training exercises with the participation of all relevant agencies were carried out.
The practical drills were held at the Fire Department Headquarters in anticipation of the transfer of aerial firefighting operations to the National Guard. The training involved the Fire Department, the Department of Forests, the Civil Defence Forces, and the Ambulance Service.
Representatives from the Operational Centre of the Air Squadron of the Greek Air Force Command also joined the exercises. The scenarios tested coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and the effectiveness of joint operations—all critical components in responding to wildfires.
On the same day, two Air Tractor planes from Jordan arrived at Larnaca International Airport. These planes will assist with firefighting operations across the island as part of the ongoing cooperation between the two nations.
Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, the Commander of the Greek Defence Forces, visited the Jordanian military personnel and expressed gratitude for their support. He highlighted that their presence in Cyprus is a testament to the strong ties between the armed forces of both countries.
