Two Black Hawk Helicopters Arrive in Cyprus from Slovakia to Combat Fires
Two Black Hawk helicopters, leased from Slovakia, have arrived in Cyprus and are fully operational.
According to the Department of Forests under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, the helicopters landed at Paphos International Airport last week, where they will be stationed. Each helicopter can carry 3,400 liters of water and will enhance firefighting capabilities throughout the summer season.
Since their arrival on Monday, the helicopters have been immediately put into service and are actively engaged in combating forest fires. One of the helicopters has already been involved in fighting a fire that erupted on Monday in the Pachna and Prastio areas of the Limassol district.
