The far-right organizations National People’s Front (ELAM) and the Greek student group "EFEN" have been officially added to the annual list of illegal terrorist organizations in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The 2025 decree, titled “Illegal Terrorist Organizations in TRNC,” was issued by the Council of Ministers and published in the Official Gazette yesterday, coming into legal effect immediately.

In addition to these groups, the list includes the former Greek political party “Golden Dawn,” the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK/KONGRA-GEL)—already recognized as a terrorist organization by the European Union and Turkey—and its affiliated militant wing, the People’s Defense Units (YPG).

Other notable organizations listed include Hezbollah, ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Boko Haram, among approximately 50 other groups.

The decree explicitly bans the display of flags, emblems, and symbols associated with these organizations and their derivatives in Northern Cyprus. Furthermore, any activity, as well as the use of images featuring their leaders or members, is strictly prohibited under TRNC law.
