Two police officers have been suspended due to a video showing them engaging in intimate acts

Two police officers were suspended after a video appeared online showing them having sex in a rural area of Larnaca while on duty, inside a patrol car.

The police announced that both officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave pending a criminal and disciplinary investigation. Instructions were also given to verify the authenticity of the video and conduct appropriate checks.

The scandalous footage, which has spread beyond Cyprus, shows a male and a female officer in compromising positions on agricultural land in the Larnaca district, between Dromolaxia and Aradippou.

It is reported that the video was recorded by a passerby on a mobile phone.

The incident has prompted the public to attempt to identify the two individuals shown in the footage. The video began circulating around noon.

In its official statement, the police said that such actions and behavior are unacceptable as they "insult the work of thousands of our officers who carry out their duties."
