Cyprus state spending on infertility treatment has increased twelvefold

State spending on infertility treatment programs in Cyprus rose from €475,000 in 2016 to €5.75 million in 2025 — a twelvefold increase. This is due to growing demand and expanded subsidies.

In 2025, support was provided to 2,355 people (compared to 412 in 2016). Over the past 10 years, the state has spent €31.5 million on these programs, assisting nearly 15,000 patients.

Currently, the state covers up to four IVF attempts per couple:

• €4,500 — first attempt
• €3,500 — second attempt
• €2,500 — third and fourth attempts

Additional support is provided for egg freezing, embryo transfer, and free hormonal medications through GHS pharmacies.

The average IVF success rate is 40–50% per attempt, but it strongly depends on age and drops sharply after 40.

There are 10 IVF centers operating in Cyprus (Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca). Applications for reimbursement must be submitted within four months after treatment.
