Greek Cypriot Hid His Mother's Death in the UK and Collected Her Pension for 8 Years in Cyprus
A Greek Cypriot man in Cyprus concealed the death of his mother in order to continue receiving her pension. The woman is believed to have passed away in 2015 in the United Kingdom.

According to the Reporter publication, the man likely took this action to prevent the cessation of her pension payments and to allow them to accumulate. For eight years, starting from 2015, the government continued to deposit her pension benefits into the deceased woman's bank account.
It is believed that the man withdrew money from his late mother's account and transferred it to his own. The fraudulent scheme was reported to authorities by the man's brother.
Reports indicate that the defendant denies the charges and asserts that he has returned all the illegally obtained funds.
